What is gentrification?
What is happening to our cities? We look around us, document with our cameras. We travel around. From Oslo to other places in the world we see similar cityscapes. Downtown areas changing. There are multiple people with expensive clothes, expensive cars and expensive habits - while service workers and minorities must commute longer to come to work in the center.
Sociologists call it the process of "gentrification". What is that? This publication explores the theme, using art documentation and social sciences. The publication has been produced in conjunction with the exhibition "Brakkebygrenda: et sted i byen som ble borte" in Oslo Museum, Intercultural Museum, 23.01.-02.14.2016.
Contributors release includes, inter alia, Oddrun Sæter, Eriksen Skajaa architects, Brakkebygrenda, Audun Engh, Enga eco-housing collective, Erling Holm Dock, Andrej Holm, Lars Mjøset, Kia Vejrup, Jame One and myself.
I have also develop the illustrations and graphic design.
And together with the editor developed a structure that moves from one place that is gone to other places in Oslo, on to some other places in the world in a wide bird's eye view.
